Civic Engagement Office Seeks Volunteers for WHYY Phone Bank

Posted April 22nd, 2010 at 2:04 pm.

Bryn Mawr’s Civic Engagement is recruiting 15-18 enthusiastic volunteers to accept and process telephone pledges from WHYY Radio during the public-radio station’s membership drive. The Bryn Mawr group will sit in as the membership drive is broadcast live from the WHYY-FM studios, answer phones, and accept pledges of support from WHYY-FM listeners. Entering pledge information is a simple data-entry operation using a headset and personal computer; all volunteers will be trained upon arrival.

If you’d like to volunteer, please e-mail Ellie Esmond at her Bryn Mawr address by Friday, April 23, to sign up.

Dinner will be provided. Volunteers will need to arrive at the specified time for training purposes and should plan on staying for the entire shift. Children are welcome as long as they are at least high-school-aged.

WHYY is located at 150 North 6th Street (between Arch and Race Streets), across from Independence Mall and the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia. As the station has no parking facilities, volunteers are encouraged  to use public transportation if possible. There are also public parking lots and metered parking in the neighborhood.
