Staff Applications for TLI Learning Partnerships, Computing Classes Due Dec. 3

The Teaching and Learning Initiative (TLI) is accepting applications from staff members for its spring-semester programs. Staff members receive paid release time to participate in TLI programs.

Through the TLI, staff members work with students to exchange skills and build a new relationship here on campus. If you are interested in applying, please download the attached application, fill it out, and send it to Jessica Vinson through campus mail by Friday, December 3. Offered next semester:

  • Reading, Writing, and Communication Program: Work in a one-to-one relationship with a student, staff, or faculty mentor to develop your literacy learning and meet learning goals. 2 hours per week (paid release time); 1-2 semesters.
  • Continuing Education Partnership (CEP): Work in a reciprocal relationship with a student mentor to plan and pursue educational options towards completing a first degree (G.E.D., Associate’s, or Bachelor’s) and teach the student something out of your specific area of expertise, experience or interest. 2 hours per week (paid release time); 1-2 semesters.
  • Empowering Learners Partnership (ELP) Teaching and Learning Partner: Work in a unique reciprocal relationship with a student or faculty member (or occasionally in a small group) in which each of you teaches the other something out of your specific areas of expertise, experience, or interest. 2 hours per week (paid release time); 4-14 weeks.
  • Computing Courses:Attend both small-class and one-on-one sessions with a student mentor as you learn to navigate your way through the internet, around Microsoft Office, and several other computer programs and operations.  2 hours per week (paid release time); 10 weeks.
