Special Courses Offered for Fall 2011 in Connection with Flexner Lecturer Judith Butler

Five Bryn Mawr courses will be offered in connection with Judith Butler’s residency at Bryn Mawr as the Flexner Lecturer.

The curricula of these five courses will build upon Butler’s historical works and her new topic.  Faculty members teaching these courses will incorporate Butler’s three lectures and the scholar herself into the curricular and co-curricular activities.

The five courses are:

1.      ANTH B322         “Anthropology of the Body,” Melissa Pashigian

2.      ENGL B333         “The Lesbian Immortal,” Kate Thomas

3.      HART B334         “Topics in Film Studies: Picturing the Invisible,” Homay King

4.      HART B380         “Topics in Contemporary Art:  Body Politics: Performance and Performativity in Modern and Contemporary Art,” Lisa Saltzman

5.      SPAN B322          “Queens, Nuns, and Other Deviants in the Early Modern Iberian World,” Maria Christina Quintero

Registration for Fall 2010 courses runs April 4-8.
