Special Plaque-Placing Tour of Campus Trees on Friday, Oct. 21

Posted October 13th, 2011 at 2:59 pm.

On Friday, Oct. 21, from 1 to 3 p.m. the Bryn Mawr Community is invited to join Grounds Manager Ed Harman and student members of the landscape committee Lydia Bello ’12 and Stephanie Kim ’12 as they place plaques on 42 of the campus’s most notable trees.

Placing the plaques is the final step in the creation of a new self-guided tree tour Harman and the students have created. Information about trees on the tour can be downloaded or viewed via the grounds website (the powerpoint is still being worked on and a finished presentation, including the map, will be available by Nov. 1). A printed tour brochure will be available in the Benaham Gateway building beginning the morning of the tour.

As members of the landscape committee, Bello and Kim have worked with Harman to get Bryn Mawr named a Tree Campus USA campus.  This membership is meant to act as a stepping-stone toward the larger goal of earning the College an arboretum designation.
