From Payroll Coordinator Lee Ann Brown:

If you have exempted yourself from the Lower Merion Local Services Tax for not earning $12,000 in 2011 or working for a 2nd employer in Lower Merion Township, you must complete and return the attached 2012 Lower Merion Local Services Exemption form to the Payroll Office before the end of  December 2011 in order to be exempt for 2012.  Please do not confuse this form with the Local Earned Income Tax Residency Certificate you were required to complete just a few weeks ago.  We will begin taxing you $2.00 per pay for students and bi-weekly staff members and $4.33 per month for Monthly Staff members  with the first pay date in January of 2012.  You need to complete the attached 2012 Local Services Tax Exemption form AND forward that and a copy of your most recent pay advice showing your year-to-date earnings for 2011 to the payroll office before you leave on winter break.  If you work at a 2nd employer, you need to send in a copy of a pay advice from that employer showing that you are paying the Local Service Tax from that employer.  Please write your Bryn Mawr ID at the top of the form in the margin.

If you have exempted yourself from New Jersey State Income Tax for earning less that $10,000 in 2011, you must complete a new NJ W-4 form (also attached) and return it to the Payroll Office.  We will be taking down your New Jersey exemption in the beginning of 2012.

If you have exempted yourself from Federal Withholding taxes, that exemption, too, will expire at the end of 2011.  You will need to complete a new 2012 W-4 form only completing line 7 with the word EXEMPT in order to be exempted from Federal Withholding in 2012.  Those forms are available in our office or on-line at the Controller’s web page under payroll forms and schedules.

Time sheets for the last student payroll process for pay date 12/22/2011 must be turned in to the Payroll Office no later than 12/14/11.  Late time sheets will be processed in January with the first student payroll of 2012.  Also,  depending on the volume of turned in time sheets, we may be unable to process old time sheets with this payroll.  They may be held until January and processed with the first payroll of 2012.

Time sheets for the final bi-weekly payroll process of 12/9/11 through 12/22/11 are due in the Payroll Office on December 16.  As we have done in prior years,  with your supervisor’s permission, please project your hours from the 16th through the 22nd.  If you end up working different hours during any of that time period, submit a corrected time sheet for the 12/9 – 12/22 time period after the break and your hours will be corrected on the first payroll process of 2012.  Please be sure to clearly mark the revised time sheet CORRECTED in order to prevent a duplicate processing of hours.

If you work with or supervise a Haverford Student, please tell them about this email.  We don’t always have email addresses for Haverford Students.  Please contact me with any questions.
