Bryn Mawr Web Developer/Designer Catherine Farman ’08 got in on the ground floor as a presenter at the inaugural Philadelphia Women In Tech Summit at the Wharton School on Saturday, April 21.

In a workshop titled “A Mobile Website is a Waste of Your Time: Get Started with Responsive Web Design,” Farman advocated a design approach that adjusts web pages’ layout to the size of the device displaying them, as opposed to creating separate websites or apps for mobile devices. Farman adopted elements of this approach in creating the Bryn Mawr College website’s mobile-friendly presentation last fall.

Farman described the crowd at the summit as a “smart audience with challenging questions.” Judging by the responses to her talk on on Twitter, listeners found her equally smart.

Slides from Farman’s presentation are available online.
