May 8 Reception to Honor James Wright as he Leaves for Appointment in Athens

The Bryn Mawr community is invited to attend a reception in honor of Professor and William R. Kenan Jr. Chair in the Department of Classical and Near Eastern Archaeology James Wright, Ph.D. ’78, on Tuesday, May 8. The reception will be held from 3-5 p.m. in the Ely Room at the Wyndham Alumnae House.

In July, Wright will begin a five-year term as the director of the American School of Classical Studies at Athens.

Wright has been a member of Bryn Mawr’s faculty for more than 30 years. He has served as chair of the Department of Classical and Near Eastern Archaeology, acting director of the Growth and Structure of Cities Department, and dean of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. He is an alumnus of Haverford College and earned his M.A. and Ph.D. at Bryn Mawr.
