Professor Emeritus Rhonda Hughes Awarded Elizabeth Bingham Award

Mathematics Professor Emeritus Rhonda Hughes was awarded the 2013 Elizabeth Bingham Award by the Association for Women in Science (AWIS), Philadelphia Chapter.

This award is presented each year to a distinguished local scientist who has significantly influenced the advancement of women in science. Elizabeth Bingham was the driving force behind founding the Philadelphia Chapter of AWIS.

While at Bryn Mawr, Hughes was named the Helen Hermann Professor of Mathematics and co-founded Enhancing Diversity in Graduate Education (EDGE) program.  In 2010, Hughes received the very first M. Gweneth Humphreys Award for Mentorship of Undergraduate Women in Mathematics. She retired from Bryn Mawr in 2011.
