Pensby Center Hosts “Safe Space Diversity Conversation” on Friday, April 26

The following email was sent to faculty and staff by Assistant Dean and Director of Leadership and Community Development Vanessa Christman on Wednesday, April 17.

Dear Members of the  Bryn Mawr Community,

The Pensby Center invites you to join us on Friday, April 26th from 12-2PM for the return of the Diversity Conversation series. Lunch will be served!

We relaunch the series with a discussion of Safe Space. Why does this conversation need to take place at Bryn Mawr? What are the reasons community members seek (and don’t always find) spaces where their identities don’t have to be checked at the door? Where their whole selves can be included? How are spaces not welcoming to certain aspects of community members’ identities–for example, race, religion, sexual orientation and class–and what can be done about it?

Stephanie Nixon, Director of Diversity, Social Justice and Inclusion, will help us navigate the topic. We hope you’ll add your voice to the Conversation! RSVP to vchristm@brynmawr.edu

“Safe Space in This Place”
Time: 12:00-2PM
Place: The Pensby Center, Cambrian Row
Bryn Mawr College students, staff and faculty are welcome
