The following email was sent by Dean of Studies and Interim Dean of the College Judy Balthazar to staff on Wednesday, August 14.
Dear members of the Bryn Mawr community,
I am pleased to announce some updates from the Undergraduate Dean’s Office. Despite the departure of Michele Rasmussen (who sends greetings from Chicago) and the retirement of Stephanie Bell, you will find many familiar faces here, but some will be in different offices and playing slightly different roles than before:
Michelle Mancini will continue to advise students and coordinate our fellowships and scholarships advising, but will now also serve as Associate Dean of the College to keep an eye on academic procedures and to make sure the Dean’s Office keeps running.
Assistant Dean Christina Rose, who joined us part-time last year to work with McBride and transfer students, will now be in Guild Hall full-time, advising traditionally-aged students as well. She will also assist Michelle Mancini with scholarships and fellowships.
Assistant Dean Theresa Cann, formerly the Director of the Office of International Programs, will join the Dean’s Office to advise some first-year students while continuing to direct the study abroad program.
Patti Lausch, formerly the Assistant Director of the Office of International Programs, will join the Pensby Center to create enhanced programming for both international and domestic students while continuing to advise and support international students and staff.
There also will be some new faces this fall, and I hope you will stop by to welcome each one:
Sameerah Richards, who worked for a short period at the Pensby Center last year, is our new Administrative Assistant. She replaces Chris Teter, who was lured away by the Admissions Office at the start of the summer.
Deb Alder, our new Access Services Coordinator, joined us on August 1. Deb brings a range of experiences and most recently served as Coordinator of Disabilities Services at Montgomery County Community College.
Finally, we have created a new position in the Dean’s Office! Our soon-to-be-hired Program Coordinator will provide support for a variety of programs, including general academic advising, study abroad and student funding.
Here’s to a good year!
