Bi-College Working Group Formed

The following email was sent to students, faculty, and staff by Secretary of the College Ruth Lindeborg on behalf of the Bryn Mawr College Board of Trustees and Haverford College Board of Managers on Monday, Oct. 28.

Dear Members of the Bryn Mawr and Haverford Communities,

We write jointly to let you know about a process underway to review the role and scope of the Bi-Co relationship.  With presidential transitions at both of our institutions and our attendant fresh looks at strategic priorities, it is a good time to take a look at the value of our historic partnership, its current form, and opportunities for the future.

The first step of this process involves a Board-level working group composed of Bryn Mawr trustees, Haverford managers, and both presidents.  We expect the conversations of this group to be informal and wide-ranging, and as such we do not anticipate regularized, formal reporting of its work.  Should any compelling ideas or recommendations emerge, further conversations and deliberations would necessarily expand to involve campus stakeholders.

In light of the many challenges facing liberal arts colleges today, Haverford and Bryn Mawr are exceedingly fortunate to have such a strong, committed partnership, and we look forward to continuing to work together in the years to come.

Sincerely,

Bryn Mawr College Board of Trustees

Haverford College Board of Managers
