This is a reminder that enrollment in the Health Insurance Marketplace created by the health care reform legislation ends on March 31st. You should enroll in coverage through thewww.healthcare.gov website if you a part-time employee who is not eligible to participate in the College Flexible Benefit Plan and if you have no other form of insurance that qualifies as minimum essential coverage. Minimum essential coverage includes individual market policies, job-based coverage, Medicare, Medicaid, CHIP and TRICARE. In addition, any employee with an uninsured legal dependent should ensure that this family member obtains minimum essential coverage by March 31st.
There are penalties that will go into effect if someone does not have minimum essential coverage on or after April 1, 2014. Information on what happens if someone does not have this coverage is available through the following link:
The problems reported with the www.healthcare.gov when it was launched in October 2013have largely been resolved and the enrollment process should not be difficult. Please call me if you have any questions.
