On March 21 and 22, the Bryn Mawr College Department of History of Art co-hosted the 19th Annual Graduate Student Symposium on the History of Art at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

With an introduction by Professor and Chair of History of Art Lisa Saltzman and a keynote lecture by Amherst College Professor of History of Art and Chair of European Studies Nicola Courtright, the symposium featured talks by graduate students from nine mid-Atlantic colleges and universities – Bryn Mawr, Johns Hopkins, Penn State, Princeton, Rutgers, Temple, University of Delaware, University of Maryland, and University of Pennsylvania.

Bryn Mawr’s representative to the symposium, Jamie Richardson, presented a paper entitled “Early Modern Curiosity as Allegory and Emblem,” a kernel of the dissertation she is researching under the direction of Professor of History of Art Christiane Hertel.
