Diversity Conversation Moved to Friday, October 3

The following email was sent to faculty, students, and staff by the Pensby Center on Wednesday, Sept. 24.

Out of respect for those observing Rosh Hashanah, the date for the first Diversity Conversation of the semester, “Gender Expression, Gender Identity and Trans Inclusion at Bryn Mawr: Then and Now.” has been changed to Friday, Oct. 3 from 12-1:30 p.m. We hope those planning to participate will still be able to do so at this rescheduled time.

This summer, Pensby Intern Emmett Binkowski ’16 researched and created a digital exhibit about the history of gender identity and expression at the College. (Here is the link:http://genderatbrynmawr.omeka.net/) With recent admissions policy changes at Mills and Mt. Holyoke Colleges, the conversation about admitting and supporting trans students at Bryn Mawr took center stage at Bryn Mawr earlier this month. Where does the topic currently stand? And how can our history around gender inform the path forward?

Bryn Mawr College students, staff and faculty are encouraged to join the discussion. Lunch will be served.

Diversity Conversation: “Gender Expression, Gender Identity and Trans Inclusion at Bryn Mawr: Then and Now”
Date: Friday, Oct. 3
Time: 12:00-1:30 p.m.
Place: Aelwyd, Cambrian Row

Save the date! Our next regular conversation of the semester, ” Multiracial Students at Bryn Mawr: Perspectives and Experiences,” will take place Oct. 31.
