The following email was sent to faculty and staff by Director of Human Resources Marty Mastascusa on Oct. 29:
By now all medical plan enrollees should have received new ID cards from Independence Blue Cross or Keystone. Please continue to use the old card through midnight on October 31st and start using the new card on November 1st. If you have any confusion regarding which is the new and the old card, they can be differentiated by the following ID number prefixes:
|Old Prefix||New Prefix|
|Personal Choice (both versions)||QCB||YXF|
The new card has a new ID number which will not be activated until November 1st and will not work until then. If you have not received a new ID card and need to use services in early November, please print a temporary ID card. While Human Resources was able to print these for enrollees in the past, we will no longer be able to do this starting in November. Temporary cards now have to be requested directly by the member based on the instructions in the attached notice. Human Resources can still request ID cards, however, it takes 7-10 business days to actually receive a card. Also, if you received a new card and it is not reflecting the coverage that you think that you should have, please call Tina Bockius at ext. 5263.
Finally, please note that effective November 1st, Keystone HMO and POS enrollees will no longer be able to change their primary care physician directly with Keystone. This now has to go through Human Resources, which is explained in the attached notice. My concern is that if you call Keystone, the Keystone representative will advise incorrectly that the change has been processed. It will not be unless Human Resources enters the change directly into the system of Businessolver, the third party administrator now being used by the Philadelphia Area Independent School Insurance Group (PAISIG) consortium through which the College purchases medical benefits.
