Professor of Social Work and Co-director of International Studies Cynthia Bisman has published Social Work: Value-Guided Practice for a Global Society with Columbia University Press. The book explores theories and ethical practices pertinent to social work’s mission of promoting social justice and enhancing human well-being in a global society wherein circumscribed national boundaries no longer suggest reasonable assumptions about culture, ethnicity, language, and norms of behavior.

In addition, Bisman co-presented with Jacqueline Lynch, “Pedagogy of Global Moral Theories for Professional Ethical Decision Making” at the Annual Program Meeting of the Council on Social Work Education

Bisman is the author of Integrating Research into Practice: A Model for Effective Social Work and Social Work Practice: Cases and Principles, with a forthcoming coedited book, Gender Justice and Development: Local and Global.
