Jeremy Elkins, Bryn Mawr College associate professor of political science, presents “Beyond ‘Beyond the State’: Re-thinking Law and Globalization” on Friday, Nov. 20, in Dalton Hall, Room 25, from noon to 1 p.m. Elkin’s talk is part of the Center for Social Sciences Third Friday Brown Bag Lunch Series.
“Discussions of law and globalization typically treat globalization of law as entailing a transfer of authority from the state to transnational institutions. This conception misses and important aspect of legal globalization which involves not so much the loss of state authority as the reconfiguration of states themselves,” Elkins says.
