The following email was sent to faculty and staff by Assistant Director of Human Resources Marty Mastascusa on Tuesday, Sept. 24.

PAISIG, the consortium through which the College purchases medical insurance, is once again running the Naturally Slim program, a 10-week online program that works to help participants improve their Metabolic Syndrome condition. Metabolic Syndrome, which affects 30% of Americans, is a condition in which a person has three of the following five traits:

  1. Above Average Waist Circumference
  2. High Blood Pressure
  3. High Cholesterol
  4. High Glucose
  5. High Triglycerides

A person with three of these five markers is at significantly higher risk for stroke, heart attack and the onset of Type II diabetes, compared to a person without such markers.

Eligible enrollees in a College medical plan as well as eligible dependents, have until Oct. 4 to complete the online application.  Additionally, PAISIG will now be offering an “alumni” refresher course of Naturally Slim. If you previously went through the program, you are eligible to take a 7-week refresher course of the program.

If you feel this program is relevant to you, register online at by Oct. 4. You will be notified of your acceptance into the program by Oct. 11, and if accepted, you will begin the online program on Oct. 21.

A description of the Naturally Slim program is available through the link below:

Information specific to fall enrollment is in the attachment.  While there is no cost to participate, applicants who are accepted but do not complete the program will be billed $100 by PAISIG.
